The BeFriending Service provides a BeFriender for people who are lonely and/or socially isolated in the Salisbury area. Depending on needs and mobility, clients will usually see their BeFriender once a week.

Volunteer BeFrienders are trained and CRB checked, and are enthusiastic in bringing some joy into the lives of those they BeFriend.

The service is tailored to the needs of each client and could include:

• going out for a short walk
• visiting a café
• going shopping
• accompanying to a medical appointment
• visiting at home for a chat
• reading a book

People who need BeFriending may request the service themselves by phoning Alison Butterfield at the SHINE office on 01722 427123 or e-mailing her at alison.b@shineinthecommunity.org.uk.  They can also be referred by local agencies and community organisations.
