Aims of Money Talk

• The overall aim of ‘Money Talk’ is to help people take and keep control of their money and avoid future debt, while assisting and supporting those already in trouble to access professional help at existing agencies
• Reduce the effects of financial difficulties - poverty, ill health, homelessness, despair
• Raise awareness of money related issues and encourage people to seek help
• Provide support to those people most vulnerable to financial difficulties
• Work through advocacy, collaboration and partnership with local organisations and agencies
• Improve Financial Capability and reduce Social and Financial Exclusion in the Salisbury District
• Improve ‘equality’ to the people living in the Salisbury District, by enabling financial freedom

Outcomes of Money Talk

• Improve the quality of lives of people experiencing financial difficulties by people being assisted to take control of their money, rather than their money taking control of them
• As people take control of their money, and their financial situation improves, then poverty and ill health will improve
• ‘Vulnerable’, socially and financially excluded people proactively seek help
• The number of people incurring future unmanageable debts / homelessness is reduced
• Awareness of ‘money issues’ raised across the district
• Financial Capability is improved in the district
• Social and Financial Exclusion is reduced in the district
• Economic wellbeing is enjoyed by a greater number of people
• ‘Equality’ amongst residents of Salisbury District improved as those who are disadvantaged are provided with that ‘additional support’ to enable them to take control of their finances
